What is minor surgery?

Minor surgery is a surgical procedure which is performed under local anaesthetic.

Is the procedure carried out by someone qualified?

Both the initial consultation and procedure will be carried out by Dr Olurin, a highly regarded Consultant Ophthalmologist with 20 years’ experience. She has performed thousands of procedures to remove chalazia.

What are the risks of eyelid surgery?

With all medical procedures there can be risks involved. However, problems like soreness around the eye, bruising and swelling are usually only temporary.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure to remove chalazia is very quick and usually takes about 20 minutes to perform.

Is the procedure painful?

Prior to the treatment you will be given a local anaesthetic and during the surgery you may feel some pressure around your eye. However, you should not feel any pain and should feel comfortable.

Can I wear make-up after surgery?

Typically patients are advised not to wear eye make-up for about 1 week after the surgery.
